JP aspirant in the race, Lemi Muia said the pollster; Trends and Insights For Africa (TIFA) did not capture the actual mood of voters in Machakos County.

According to the pollster, Dr Mutua would beat all his opponents with an average rating of 75% if elections were held today.

His closest competitor, according to the poll, former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti would get only 8% in the same election.

But in a swift rejoinder, Lemi noted that the methodology applied in the poll did not pass the basic test of scientific research. “It is funny because the pollster did not even seem to know all the candidates who have declared interest in the seat,” said Lemi.

Lemi expressed doubts over the credibility of the poll, saying the sampling method was inconsistent with any known criterion for conducting a credible research.

“Not even a single member of the 85,000 youths in my Youth Power Movement was interviewed by the pollster, meaning chances are that the entire thing was cooked up,” he said.

He urged residents of Machakos to ignore the poll results and treat the same with the contempt that it deserves.
