The ODM party has accused Jubilee Party of using government property to intimidate voters and ODM MCA aspirant Josephat Ekeno in the Kalokol Ward by-election campaigns.
Through a statement released by ODM's communications director Philip Etale, the party on Wednesday said that attackers in GK vehicles raided Ekeno’s home in the night of Tuesday and fired shots in an incidence where two children were injured.
Etale added that MPs James Lomenen (Turkana South) and Christopher Nakuleu (Turkana North) had earlier in the day been seen in the said vehicles at the time the ODM command centre was raided.
"Despite the intimidation and attacks on the people, the electorate have vowed not to vote for the Jubilee Party candidate. Local youths say they will guard the vote and stop JP and government from rigging," the statement read.
In the campaigns, ODM’s Josphat Ekeno Emuria has received support from Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok whereas Jubilee’s Simon Ekai Nang’iro Long'esan is being supported by Senator John Munyes and all the seven MPs from the region.
Apart from Turkana, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is holding by-elections in three other wards in Kisii, Kajiado and Tana River counties starting Wednesday.
The wards are Nyacheki, Bobasi constituency (Kisii), Mosiro, Kajiado West constituency (Kajiado), Sala, Bura constituency (Tana River) and Kalokol, Turkana Central constituency (Turkana).
