Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has made sensational claims that the recent upsurge in slum fire fires rocking the city is politically motivated.The most recent incident happened in Mathare where 1,000 shanties were torched down. The Governor said that fire incidents were unnatural since they are occurring during the electioneering year. He also said since new year 547 houses were razed in Mabatini slums and 600 at Mathare area four.Kidero said the fires are a ploy to chase voters from the city especially Cord voters.

"These fires become more frequent when we are approaching the election period. We know that it is a political ploy to relocate our voters," said Kidero.

Kidero gave a donation of Sh500,000 to the victims.
