Suspected ODM supporters protested the much anticipated president Uhuru Kenyatta’s tour to the vote rich region by burning Jubilee party posters on Monday night.

Kenyatta is scheduled to hold a series of rallies in Kisii and Nyamira Counties for the better part of Tuesday and Wednesday.

With only two months to election, Jubilee team is banking on the vote rich region after its strategists earmarked it as a swing region despite voting for opposition in the last decade.

Interestingly, a team of Jubilee Nyamira organizers was booed by angry residents on Sunday evening during their roadshow ahead of Kenyatta’s tour.

At least 800, 00 vote is up for grabs with Kenyatta banking on his four years record while his challenger Raila Odinga driving on change theme as campaigns take shape.

While Odinga has appointed Kisii Governor James Ongwae and Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire as his representatives, Kenyatta is banking on outspoken education boss Fred Matiang’i.

The events are synonymous in the region owing to the fact that in late March, a group of protesters blocked a section of Kenyatta’s motorcade when he toured the region.

In what could be a retaliatory mission, Jubilee supporters also burnt ODM T-Shirts a fortnight ago when Odinga held a rally at Gusii stadium.
