President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party has been accused of buying politicians ahead of repeat presidential election slated for October 26.Speaking over the weekend, Vihiga Senator George Khaniri said the ruling party has panicked ahead of polls resulting to desperate means of bribing leaders in Western Kenya to abandon the Opposition and introducing new electoral rules in Parliament."If Jubilee leaders are confident of their numbers as they claim, why all the panic and rushing in changing electoral laws, while at the same time buying hunger-stricken politicians from their opponents strongholds?" Khaniri posed, as quoted by The Standard. The criticism comes after Luhya leaders hosted President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto on Friday and Saturday where they vowed to campaign for Jubilee in the region perceived as NASA stronghold.Among the politicians who recently defected to Jubilee include former MPs Paul Otuoma (Funyula), Alfred Khang'ati (Kundayi), Fred Gumo (Westlands) and others.Senator Khaniri said despite the leaders ditching NASA, they were optimistic of unseating Jubilee from the presidency."They journey to Canaan is still unstoppable. We will ensure Raila wins with over 10 million votes," he remarked.
