Senate Deputy Minority Whip Janet Ong’era maintains that Nyacheki ward remains an ODM zone and warned Jubilee Party of a ‘resounding’ victory in a by-election which will be held later this October.
The seat was left vacant following the death of Mr Peter Ong’eri and has attracted fierce competition from both ODM and Jubilee.
Speaking on Thursday at Nyacheki market during the campaigns for the Orange flag bearer Naphtali Onkoba, Ong’era said the party was sure of victory insisting that Jubilee would not be trusted with power.
“We vowed that Jubilee cannot beat us in a free and fair contest and soon the Nyacheki residents will vindicate me. We are confident of a resounding victory because ODM stands for justice and social democracy,” she said.
“We not only want to win but win with a wider margin because this election is crucial. It will make some prophets of doom understand that the party is very strong in Kisii County,” she added.
Her sentiments were backed by Nyamira Women Representatives Alice Chae who challenged area residents to turn out in large numbers and vote for the Orange party.
“We want the people of Nyacheki to confirm to the entire country that Gusii region is an ODM zone. Let those championing for Jubilee wait for an earthquake in 2017,” she said.
