The Jubilee administration has no capacity to solve the food crisis in the country, Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has said.

Kingi who alongside Women Representative Aisha Jumwa spoke at Kalia Ngombe in Rabai, cautioned voters in the county against supporting Jubilee in the pretext that leaders from the ruling party distributed food to them.The drought that hit the country late 2016 and early 2017 dealt a blow to food production in Kilifi ushering in famine that invited the national and county governments’ intervention.Both governments distributed food to the famine-stricken residents.The national government also distributed title deeds, fertilizer, seeds and relief food in a bid to woo residents to vote for President Uhuru Kenyatta.Kingi and Jumwa accused the Jubilee government of taking advantage of the plight of Kilifi residents for selfish gain.The county chief is a staunch opposition and ODM NASA leader Raila Odinga supporter who has constantly fought against Jubilee’s attempted forays into his county.At the time he distributed food to hungry residents in January, he said his government would collaborate with humanitarian organizations such as World Food Programme to ship in and distribute more food in the county.He also promised to distribute free fertilizer, seeds and pesticides to farmers in a bid to improve crop yields and fight food insecurity.
