The battle for the over 500,000 registered voters in Kilifi County has intensified ahead of the repeat presidential election slated for October 26, 2017.The Jubilee Party, under the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta has now changed tact in a bid to boost their numbers. In the August 8 poll, NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga rubber stamped his authority in the county with Uhuru amassing only over 40,000 votes, confirming that he's no match to the former Prime Minister in Kilifi politics. However, keen to get a better return in next month's contest, Jubilee lieutenants in the county have put in place measures that will ensure they eat into Raila's support base.In the new tact, Jubilee has gone for a three-pronged approach with former Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung'aro, Mining Cabinet Secretary Dan Kazungu and former Kaloleni MP Kazungu Kambi leading separate campaign teams across the vast Coastal county.Mung'aro has been blamed by Jubilee supporters in the county for allegedly being the reason behind Uhuru's dismal performance during the August 8 poll. The entry of the two Kazungus is however; set to ignite Jubilee's tidal wave in the region that has loyally supported Raila for the last 10 years.
