The Jubilee Coalition will launch a NO campaign against the proposed referendum.
The decision was announced on Thursday after the United Republican Party (URP) national executive council meeting which was held in Nakuru.
During the meeting, it was also resolved that Isaac Ruto, the council of governors’ chair should immediately be expelled from the party.
URP acting chairman Barre Shill confirmed that Isaac Ruto would eventually be forced out.
“Any person who is a member of URP is required to adhere to its rules and regulations. They should leave the party if that becomes hard for them," Shill said.
"Isaac Ruto has abandoned the party and has also refused to attend to all our NEC meetings, governor's group and parliamentary groups in the last three months. The referendum issue has been discussed seriously by all our coalition party organs and our stand is that any constitutional issue should be dealt with in parliament," Shill added.
Secretary general Fred Muteti said that President Uhuru Kenyatta will launch the No referendum campaign which will inform Kenyans on what it means to have a referendum.
