Nominated MP Isaac Mwaura has called on the Jubilee and Cord coalitions to find a middle ground in resolving the IEBC standoff.
The MP said the impasse has created political tension in the country.
Addressing journalists on Tuesday at a forum organized by people living with disabilities in Mombasa, Mwaura said the country is still recovering from the post election violence where many people were maimed as a result of the chaos, and thus leaders should not allow the country to go back in that direction.
The legislature also criticised the government's move to block the Coard coalition from accessing Uhuru park during the Madaraka celebrations, saying that any Kenyan was at liberty to celebrate the day at a place of will.
He asked the police to offer security at both Afraha and Uhuru park.
Mwaura also urged the IEBC chairman Isaak Hassan not to politicise the commission by engaging in political talk.
