Jubilee government has done exemplary well in improving the country’s infrastructure sector, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto have maintained.
The two were speaking on Wednesday during the commissioning of 50KM road that connects Kebirigo market and Metamaywa junction.
Kenyatta said he has managed to tarmac roads that any other regime in the shortest period of time, and insisted that all areas that he had promised to improve the roads will be handled before 2017 elections.
“My government has remained focused in improving our roads in areas that were in dire need. We have done several kilometers compared to any other regime given the same period of time I have been in office,” he said without giving the actual KMs done.
“We are determined to do more before the elections and that is why we are reaching many areas in the country. We want to see every region served equally in terms of infrastructure. Good roads spur a growing economy,” Uhuru added.
Ruto warned lazy contractors saying the government will not hesitate to revoke their contracts if they delay to do the work within the agreed period of time.
“And let me be very clear. Jubilee wants to see roads done as agreed with contractors and in case there is someone thinking that they can buy time then they have no place in our system. We want to see those roads done immediately or we revoke contracts,” he said.
