Cord leader Raila Odinga on Friday urged Coast residents to reject Jubilee as a protest against oppression, intolerance and extrajudicial killings.
Speaking at a Bongwe Ward rally in Kwale, Raila said that the Jubilee administration was wooing coast residents with empty promises ahead of the 2017 polls, further revealing that the opposition was ready for the elections once reforms at IEBC, were finalised.
Raila said that coast residents have the right to protection and development like any other citizens and they should not receive that from the government as a favour.
"It is the duty of the State to protect life and property because everyone in Kenya pays taxes without exception. The government collects taxes for the benefit of all citizens and to develop the country and deliver services," said Raila.
Raila also claimed that Uhuru Kenyatta’s government was desperately launching new projects and issuing out title deeds to coast residents to cover up its failure and inability to handle landlessness and poverty at the coast.
