The Jubilee Party National Elections Tribunal has declined to nullify the gubernatorial result for the Uasin Gishu county.
The tribunal ruled that the appeal filed by gubernatorial aspirant Bundotich Kiprop popularly referred to as Buzeki did not meet the set threshold.
According to a letter containing the ruling which was delivered, Monday, Buzeki's appeal did not establish that irregularities or electoral offences did occur during the nomination process.
The billionaire businessman was seeking a fresh nomination be ordered in the county claiming that many of his supporters were locked out after polling stations opened late and closed early.
"The tribunal finds that though nominations started late in many polling stations, it did not affect the outcome of the nominations, hence, there is no need to usurp the will of the electorate in the county by annulling the gubernatorial primaries," read part of the letter signed by tribunal chairperson Faith Waigwa and her vice, Hillary Sigei.
"For the above reasons, the tribunal finds that the appeal has not met the expected threshold to nullify and declare void the gubernatorial results of Uasin Gishu county and it is hereby dismissed," added the letter.
During the Jubilee party primaries held last Tuesday, Buzeki lost to governor Jackson Mandago who garnered 126,681 votes against 82,869 votes.
