Cord leader Raila Odinga has urged Kenyans to vote out the Jubilee government in 2017 general election.
Addressing residents as Lukusi market in Shinyalu Constituency on Tuesday, Raila accused the Jubilee government of failing to fight graft.
The opposition leader cited the National Youth Service (NYS) and Eurobond scandals, claiming that powerful government officials used the funds to enrich themselves.
He further accused the government of tribalism and misuse of public funds, adding that it has also failed to fulfil its promises to the citizens.
“Jubilee has made several promises to Kenyans since coming to power four years ago but the promises have remained just promises with 11 months left to next year’s elections,” said Raila.
Raila urged the residents to register in large numbers in a bid to vote out Jubilee, saying they do not deserve a second chance as they have failed to save Kenyans from poverty.
“Kenyans are paying the price for the corruption in government through high cost of foodstuffs, fuel and the general high cost of living,” said Mr Odinga.
The ODM party leader also took the opportunity to allay fears that the coalition was experiencing internal wrangles over the flagbearer debate.
He assured the residents that Cord would front an able candidate to face off with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“There should be no worry about the jostling for the Cord flagbearer since we shall eventually talk and agree and come up with a winning candidate who will be the country’s next president,” said Raila.
He further urged Kenyans to vote for the coalition in 2017, adding that the opposition seeks to transform the country.
“Kenyans have a job in their hands to send Jubilee packing by registering as voters in large numbers and voting for Cord to open room for genuine reforms and transformation in the country,” he said, as quoted by the Nation.
