An event meant to pick Jubilee Party’s Nakuru County elections board members turned chaotic ahead of primaries to be held in April.
Drama unfolded when aspirants disagreed over the list of nominees to the elections board.
Aspirants from Nakuru Town West and Nakuru Town East exchanged harsh words during the Monday event.
Jubilee’s National Elections Board (NEB) Vice Chairman Veska Kangogo was in charge of the exercise.
Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria was outnumbered in his bid to front a nominee from his constituency.
Kangogo directed the two opposing sides to present their preferred nominees before making the final decision.
She told aspirants the party will not use the Jubilee smart cards after most of them opposed the proposal.
“All that will be required during the nominations, to be conducted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), is one’s national Identity Card,” Kangogo said.
In Kericho, police had to intervene after aspirants became uncontrollable during the exercise.
