Jubilee Party has stated that any move to replace the current IEBC commissioners may jeopardize the presidential election set for October 17.

In opposition to a case filed by three voters seeking to have the electoral commission stopped from conducting the polls, Jubilee Party contends it will not be possible to replace the commissioners since President Kenyatta has no power to appoint during temporary incumbency.

“I am aware IEBC cannot conduct any election without the commissioners who are ordinarily appointed by the president,” claimed Mary Karen.

The affidavit sworn by Mary Karen Kigen, the party’s deputy executive director, said any decision made by the court in the case will ultimately affect the party.

The party said that if the suit is successful, it will make it impossible for IEBC to conduct the fresh poll.
