Jubilee Party has established a disciplinary committee that will deal with chaos during the party's internal polls to pick aspirants.

Addressing a media conference on Friday at the Jubilee Party headquarters in Nairobi, Jubilee secretary-general Raphael Tuju said that this committee will be ruthless in dealing with those who may want to disrupt the party’s systems.

“The disciplinary committee has been set up as announced by the President this week. It will be intolerant to people seeking to disrupt party functions or meting violence on opponents. All parties should be firm on this issue,” said Tuju as quoted by Nation.

He further revealed that the committee would meet this weekend to deliberate on disqualifying those that cause disruptions during nominations or other party events.

He added that the committee will also have a meeting with IEBC, law enforcement units as well as the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to agree on the policy before the nominations.

“The subject of agreement that we have with the IEBC, law enforcement agencies and the EACC is that if we disqualify someone, they should not be allowed in any other political parties,” he said.

According to Tuju, Jubilee Party is ready to conform with IEBC timelines for the next General Election and will therefore hold its nominations as soon as their hopefuls complete verifying the relevant details by Monday next week.

“We are ready to submit all our nomination papers on Monday. We have 8,622 aspirants in total and we have already contracted printers who will give us the ballot papers next week to ensure that our nomination process is on schedule,” he said.
