Jubilee Party is set to launch a membership smart-card today, Friday, as they prepare for party primaries in readiness for the August 8 elections.
The ruling party has marked a strategy that will mark a resurrection of sanity at nomination levels, which have in the past been marred by chaos.
The card will ensure the strangers are not allowed to participate in the primaries, besides limiting malpractices.
“With this card it will be impossible to vote twice, because once you vote, your number is captured in the system, so you cannot vote again,” said Raphael Tuju, head of Jubilee Party campaign team.
In the past, party cards were made of paper, but the Jubilee card comes with a code bar unique to each other.
The party has shipped in 10 million cards, but will bring in more depending on the demand when the president Kenyatta led party, targeting to turn its membership into votes come the polls.
After the launch of the card, the party is set to launch a mass drive to ensure massive new voter registration across the country, as they try to ensure President Kenyatta’s reelection.
The party witnessed chaotic nominations in the counties, and with a large number of aspirants expected in various positions, the measures will come in handy.
Tuju further says he party is more than prepared to see the re-election of the president, and his Deputy William Ruto.
He further took a dig at the opposition party, saying they are not in any way ready for the elections.
“They are not ready, they don’t have a candidate yet. They don’t even know which party they are going to use to campaign, and don’t even have a lineup,” added.
