[Photo/Elvanis Ronoh]Uasin Gishu farmers have condemned the Jubilee administration for deceiving them during the electioneering period that they will reduce fertilizer prices. Kenya National Federation of Agricultural Producers (KENFAP) Uasin Gishu branch chairman Musa Barno said despite voting overwhelmingly for Jubilee, nothing has been done. "During the electioneering period President Uhuru Kenyatta promised us that he will reduce fertilizer prices to Sh1,200 per bag but as I am talking the price is 4,800 yet we are nearing planting season," he said in Eldoret town, Tuesday."Surely how will we plant our crops with such high prices yet the National Cereals and Produce Board has refused to go pay us our money. As farmers we are really disappointed with this government," he added. He, however, urged the national government to waive Sh500 million farmers owe the Agriculture Finance Corporation (AFC)."Farmers in this region incurred heavy losses such drought and fall armyworms invasion that drastically reduced production, therefore, waiving the debt will enable farmers to plant this season."
