Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) leaders Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula wants hate speech laws to be amended.

The leaders on Sunday accused the Jubilee government of using the hate speech laws to curtail and infringe on the freedom of speech.

Speaking in Machakos town during a prayer rally for Machakos senator Johnson Muthama on Sunday, Cord leader Raila Odinga hit out at the Jubilee government accusing it of infringing on the freedom for speech.

He claimed that the government is out to silence the opposition in the name of fighting hate speech.

“Jubilee government led by Uhuru Kenyatta has clearly shown its intentions to infringe on the freedom of speech and silence the opposition,” said Odinga.

Odinga said that the opposition will not allow the government to frustrate the democratic gains made in the country.

He said that the opposition will push for review of hate speech laws to ensure that Kenyans have the freedom of speech.

Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula aid the Jubilee government had turned into a dictatorship government.

The cord co-principal said that they will not allow the era of former President Moi where people used to be arrested to return.

Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka claimed that Jubilee was afraid of opposition and was using hate speech to keep them silent.

“We will not allow our freedom to speech to be infringed by the government in the name of fighting hate speech,” said Musyoka.

Kalonzo asked Kenyans to speak out and not to be coward by the retrogressive hate speech laws.

The cord leaders vowed to continue criticizing the government until when it will address the issues facing the country.
