On Monday, Kisii assembly majority whip Henry Moracha and his Kiogoro Samuel Apoko counterpart slammed the government for allegedly failing to fix major roads in the region, and only concentrating on participating in Harambees.

“The Jubilee government has neglected this region in terms of development. They ore only launching mega projects in certain areas and doing little to change the state of infrastructure in our county,” Moracha said.

“Our county is not worth Harambees which we see these leaders participate. We also want mega projects launched in our county like some other regions across the county,” he added.

Apoko challenged Gusii leaders to give Jubilee government a wide berth if it fails to rectify the state of infrastructure.

“We are an agricultural county and as many of you know, most of our roads which are under national government are in poor conditions. We demand that these roads are fixed or else we give Jubilee leadership a wide berth,” he said.

Apoko also accused Deputy President who had visited the region on Sunday of treating the region as ‘desperate’ by demanding that they join government to receive essential services.

“The DP is wrong when he demands that we support government to as a precondition of getting development in the region. The Jubilee government should take responsibility and serve every region without prejudices, and he must know that we are not desperate,” he added.
