Kilifi Women Representative Aisha Jumwa has accused the Jubilee government of allegedly undermining the rights of women in the country.
Jumwa on Sunday during a Cord rally in Machakos claimed that the Jubilee government led by President Uhuru Kenyatta does not value the rights of women.
While recalling their four days distension in police cells over hate speech allegations, she said that they were denied even seeing their children.
“It was a bitter experience that shows that the Jubilee government has no time for human rights,” she said.
She alleged that the mistreatment they experienced in cells had taken toll on them both physically and psychologically.
Jumwa claimed that his colleague Florence Mutua who is the Busia Women Representative is yet to recover from the police cell experience they went through while being held at Muthaiga police station.
Jumwa said that the rights of women and other Kenyans must be guaranteed.
The Kilifi Women Representative urged women not to fear but stand up and speak against the evils being committed in the society.
She challenged women leaders across the country to stand against injustices purported against women.
She said that women have been given the voice through the constitution to speak against injustices.
“It is time women leaders in this country stood against the injustices being purported on women,” she said.
Jumwa said that she will continue to agitate for the rights of women.
