Garissa Governor Ali Bunow Korane has hailed the political truce between Garissa Township Aden Duale and former National Assembly deputy speaker Farah Maalim.
Korane says that the move by the two leaders shelve their political differences is good for Garissa people, the somali community and the larger North Eastern region.
Speaking to journalists at Garissa Town on Wednesday, the Jubilee governor said that Duale and Maalim are experienced politicians and their reunion will propel development.
“We are happy that Duale and Maalim have reconciled and bred their political differences and we call on them to join as in service delivery at the county,” Korane said as quoted by a local daily.
The governor said that there is need for politicians across the divide to work together, adding that disunity is to blame for stunted development in the country.
He said that politicians should never be used to create animosity but a form of competition aimed at service delivery.
Korane asked Garissa residents to support Duale and Maalim new political relationship moving forward.
Duale- Maalim reunion has been praised by majority politicians in North Eastern region.
However a section of clan elders have rubbished the truce saying that it was done on personal basis and for selfish reasons.
Duale and Maalim have not been seeing eye to eye and their reconciliation is bent interpreted as a big boost for DP Ruto ahead of 2022.
