The National Super Alliance (Nasa) has been told to stop calling for unnecessary press briefings in Nairobi and embark on campaigns in the grassroots ahead of the October 17 presidential election.

Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago says Nasa leaders are wasting their time criticising the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), while Jubilee has already hit the campaign trail.

Speaking to the press at the Uasin Gishu County headquarters in Eldoret town, Wednesday, Mandago warned Nasa that they are likely face a humiliating defeat in the polls unless they do serious campaigns.

The Jubilee governor also laughed off claims by the opposition chief Raila Odinga that he was not consulted by the IEBC on the fresh elections date.

"There is no legal provision that IEBC must consult Presidential candidates before setting the elections date," Mandago noted.

"I think all this hullabaloo by Nasa is just a waste of time and I want to tell them for free that this is how they lost the August 8 elections. While they were busy with press conferences in Nairobi we were in villages looking for votes and if they repeat the same mistakes we will beat them by over 4 million votes. Its better the do campaigns so that at least they lose by 3 million votes," he added.
