Lamu Governor Fahim Twaha has asked the state to be serious in the manner which security is being handled in the coastal county.
Twaha attended the burial of four men killed by suspected militants in Uziwi village, Mpeketoni.
"Enough people have been killed. Let's not lose more. I will ask President Uhuru Kenyatta to bring in more officers. The one we have are not enough." Said Twaha. The government has resorted to bombing Boni forest to get rid of the militants who have bases there.
On Monday, Coast Regional coordinator Nelson Marwa accused chiefs of taking bribes from the terrorists and allowing them to roam freely and carry out their ills in the county. The Governor promised that his county government will give all necessary support for the war on terrorism. Security officers who attended the burials urged residents to be calm and maintain peace and give information to police on suspects. They said nobody has reason to worry as the region is secure.
