Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has openly questioned the recent appointments by President Uhuru Kenyatta, insisting that the region was short-changed.

At State House on Friday, Uhuru unveiled the second and last batch of cabinet nominees, with none featuring from the county despite traditionally supporting Jubilee.

"Asking is not by hurling insults. We cannot be a political stronghold that votes but when it comes to appointments, we are told positions are not enough.

"In feature, we are not going to grant people automatic support. We ought to evaluate before making decisions," he said.

Njuki becomes the first top Jubilee leader to poke holes on the presidential nominees apart  from his Marsabit counterpart Mohamud Ali, who challenged inclusion of Ujkur Yatani.

Also, the expanded cabinet has come under criticism with activist Okiya Omtatah planning to file a case to challenge legality of the new Chief Administrative Secretaries.
