In another least expected move, Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has endorsed another Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MCA candidate.

The opposition candidate will face off with a Jubilee Party candidate.

This comes a week after the Jubilee governor supported the election bid of Langas ward aspirant, who is also an ODM candidate.

Mandago said he supported ODM candidates for MCA seats since Jubilee candidates undermine him.

The governor has received sharp criticism, especially from Huruma MCA Peter Chomba and Langas’ Francis Muya.

"We have no problem with the Kikuyu community but it's Chomba and Muya who think they can stop us from working with other people in the community," said Mandago, as quoted by The Star.

Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga during his tour of Eldoret, endorsed Mandago’s re-election bid, saying he had a good track record.

The governor, a day later, accepted Raila and other opposition leaders' endorsement.

Mandago is set to battle it out with Bundotich Kiprop, alias Buzeki, an independent candidate for the county governorship.

Mandago trounced Buzeki in Jubilee Party primaries.
