Garissa Governor Ali Korane has said that it’s too early to talk about 2022 succession instead leaders should focus on service delivery.
Governor Korane regretted that it is barely a year since the country came out of the political mood and leaders have already started politicking.
Speaking in Kasha, Balambala constituency, the governor said as leaders, they should not spend most of their time on succession politics than delivering on the development agenda.
He further said that when the time comes they will go back to the people and seek direction on who to vote for.
“It’s not fair to our people to be in a campaign mood for the next four years. Leaders should focus on improving lives of the people,” added the governor.
A section of leaders from Garissa County has however declared that they would support Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential bid in the 2022 General Election.
Led by National Assembly Leader of Majority Aden Duale, the leaders said they would work to ensure DP Ruto clinches the country’s top seat.
Mr Duale said residents in North Eastern will elect Mr Ruto in 2022 because of what the Jubilee administration has done for the region and the country.
“Voters will elect leaders depending on what they have done. In the next five years we will ensure President Uhuru Kenyatta leaves behind a legacy,” said Mr Duale.
