Lamu Governor Fahim Twaha has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to unite the country once he is sworn in office for a second term.Speaking to journalists in Lamu Town after casting his vote on Thursday, Twaha said the country is currently divided along tribal lines.He said the division will prevent the country from realising its economic, social and political development.“My appeal is to President Kenyatta to spearhead unity once he takes over office for a second term,” said Twaha.Twaha also pleaded with President Kenyatta to reach out to opposition leader Raila Odinga.The county boss said for the country to reconcile, Uhuru, Raila and other stakeholders must talk and chart the way forward for the country.The Governor at the same time asked the opposition to stop causing fear in the country, arguing that NASA’s transformation into a resistance movement was causing anxiety.Twaha said the country cannot move forward if the opposition will continue to issue threats to Kenyans.On Wednesday, Raila announced that NASA has transformed into a resistance movement.A section of Jubilee politicians has criticised the opposition over the move, claiming that the resistance movement is meant to cause war.
