In order to impact and change the livelihood of livestock farmers in Kwale County, the County government is upscaling goat meat production, which has a potential to do better in the county.
Led by Governor Salim Mvurya, the County government issued hybrid meat goats to livestock farmers in Bongwe Gombato ward, Ukunda ward and Kinondo ward on Tuesday, owing to thr need.
"The target is to spur all sectors of our economy and to have a society that is self sufficient in terms of productivity," said Mvurya.
On Monday, Mvurya alongside his Deputy Fatuma Achani issued hybrid cattle to livestock farmers in Puma ward which is well known for its beef cattle business.
The cattle aimed to improve their local breeds and increase their income in the near future.
"Our resolve is to ensure continuity of this business as well as upscale the value of our livestock by improving the breeds," he said.
