Elgeyo Marakwet governor Alex Tolgos has hit out at the national government over the manner in which it has responded to perennial insecurity along the Kerio Valley. The Jubilee allied governor criticized the government for deploying security personal to the opposition political rallies instead of providing adequate security to locals in the region.Addressing the press in Eldoret town after a meeting with stakeholders from the Kerio Valley, Tolgos said insecurity in the region had negatively impacted on the development agenda."As leaders from the region we are not happy with the way the government is handling this issue yet hundreds of residents are loosing their lives. How can they deploy thousand of police officer to just guard a rally and fail to provide security for our people. We want them to get serious and bring peace in the region once and for all," Tolgos lamented."For how long will our people continue being killed while the government is mum or are we less Kenyans, we want to see them acting and not telling us stories," he added. The second term county boss asked the National government to deploy Kenya defense forces (KDF) to Kerio Valley."We want KDF to conduct disarmament operation that will see all criminals that have been terrorizing wananchi arrested and illegal weapons confiscated," Tolgos said.He also asked the government to ensure all the National Police reservists (NPRs) are trained and paid promptly as they help in maintaining security in the area.
