The two visited the county amid a rift in their coalition, following a truce meeting between their leader, Raila Odinga and Jubilee party leader President Uhuru Kenyatta, on March 9.

During the meeting, Odinga and Uhuru pledged to work together for the country's unity.

Nandi Governor Stephen Sang, a close confidant of Deputy President William Ruto, warmly welcomed Mudavadi and Wetangula despite their anti-Jubilee government campaigns.

The two had been invited for the homecoming ceremony of Jackson Swadi, Kibwareng ward MCA.Several local leaders led by Senator Samson Cherargey were also present.

Ruto seeks to vie for presidency in 2022, and could possibly face Mudavadi and/or NASA coalition's Kalonzo Musyoka or Raila Odinga.

Nandi County overwhelmingly voted for the Jubilee Party in the August 8, 2017 general elections.
