Garissa Governor Ali Bunow Korane has urged residents and Kenyans to remain peaceful before, during and after the Thursday repeat presidential election.Speaking to journalists in his office on Monday, the Jubilee Governor asked Kenyans not to be swayed by opposition politicians who he alleged are plotting for violence.The county boss told Kenyans to embrace each other and spread peace messages even as they come out to vote on Thursday.Korane said that the interests of the country are bigger and no one should be allowed to compromise with the country’s peace.“I am appealing to Garissa residents and Kenyans at large to be peaceful as they prepare to vote in Thursday’s repeat presidential election,” said Korane.Korane said voting is a constitutional right adding that those willing to vote should not be denied the opportunity.The Governor at the same time castigated opposition leaders for calling for election boycott, saying that they are infringing on Kenyans rights.He alleged that NASA leaders have a hidden agenda in their call for election boycott.The Governor urged NASA leaders to allow Kenyans to exercise their democratic right in a peaceful manner.Korane also hit out at the opposition claiming that the Raila Odinga-led NASA coalition wants to take the country to ‘dark days’.He appealed to religious leaders to commit the country to prayer saying it is the only thing that will save the country from the political uncertainty.
