President Uhuru Kenyatta has told the people of Garissa that his development record in the region is impeccable, and should warrant them votes from the residents in the August polls.
Speaking in Garissa Town on Tuesday, accompanied by area MP Aden Duale, the president said that the Jubilee administration was committed to improving the roads in the area and that the electricity connectivity done by his administration was a milestone to the people of the area.
“Before the Jubilee Government, Garissa town had no tarmacked roads but today the town boasts of 25 kilometers of tarmacked road. The town is also connected to the national grid ensuring reliable power unlike in the past when it had to depend on electricity from unreliable generators,” President Kenyatta said.
“Today, tarmacked roads are also being constructed to link Garissa to Wajir and Mandera,” the President added.
He also hailed his administration for the provision of health services across the country through the provision of state-of-the-art medical equipment under the Managed Equipment Service project.
“Today, Kenyans can receive special healthcare services at Garissa hospital unlike in the past when they had to travel all the way to Nairobi for the same,” he said.
The President insisted his Jubilee administration respected Muslims, hence appointing them to key leadership positions.
“If the Jubilee Government was discriminating against Muslims, we would not have the Majority leader in Parliament, the Cabinet Secretaries of Foreign Affairs, Tourism and Industrialisation – which are key posts in the Government – be held by Muslims,” President Kenyatta said.
