Despite having voted for government in 2013, both Kikuyu and Kalenjin community are languishing in poverty, claims Bomet governor Isaac Rutto.

In the past two weeks, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have been traversing Rift Valley and Central region as vote hunt intensifies ahead of elections.

Speaking in Nakuru last Friday, Rutto urged locals to vote for NASA for a much inclusive and development oriented government.

“There is nothing Kikuyu’s and Kalenjin’s are getting from government. These people are only interested in looting and that is why we are struggling like any region,” said Rutto.

“We cannot afford maize just like any community and no one should lie to you that we have favours. Let us vote NASA government in August to rescue Kenya from these thieves,” he added.

He said voting NASA will also give him an opportunity to present Kalenjin community grievances given his fifth principal status.

The Bomet governor is instrumental to opposition leader Raila Odinga’s Rift Valley campaigns and recent opinion polls have shown increasing popularity of the NASA leader in the region.
