Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi has laughed off claims that President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party has taken over the Kamba region in terms of popularity.
Speaking to locals in Mwingi Town on Sunday, the Wiper lawmaker says that Ukambani is still an opposition stronghold, adding that Jubilee has no influence to lure the Kamba region.
The MP termed rebel MPs campaigning for UhuRuto as in Ukambani as attention seekers who have no say in the region politics.
Mulyungi further claimed that rebel Kamba politicians are being used to divide the region for political gains.
“Let me remind my brothers and sisters campaigning for Jubilee in Ukambani that they are ding zero work,” he said as quoted by the Standard.
The Wiper lawmaker stated that Ukambani will ‘die’ with NASA presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga and his deputy Kalonzo Musyoka.
Mulyungi said that it’s only NASA that can liberate the region from its economic, social and political problems.
He criticized President Uhuru Kenyatta accusing him of sidelining the region on development and turning out to lobby for votes.
“Jubilee government has not done anything meaningful for the for the Kamba people since it took power five years ago,” he said.
The MP said that Jubilee has done more harm than good to the Kamba community.
He termed the sacking of former Lands Cabinet Secretary (CS) Charity Ngilu (now Kitui governor) in 2015 as disrespectful to the community.
The MP urged Kambas not to be swayed by Jubilee’s alleged empty promises.
The lawmaker instead pleaded with the locals to come out in large numbers and endorse Raila-Kalonzo presidency in the October 26 repeat election.
