The elections were aimed at picking interim party leaders in a pre-election strategy aimed at sharing positions among Nairobi’s 17 sub-counties.

Those elected are expected President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election campaign in the 2017 general elections.

In the Wednesday elections, a 19-member team was selected at the exercise conducted at Waruku in Westlands and Kamanda says it went as was planned.

“People expected Nairobi party elections to be the most chaotic but that was not the case as we followed the formula given by the party’s national headquarters,” Kamanda said as quoted by Nation.

Kamanda added that the incumbent MPs and senator comprised 30 per cent of the present delegates, MCAs (30 per cent) while aspirants made 40 per cent.

“The party which is democratic has seen the people elected represent the face of Kenya, the face of Nairobi and represent all the sub-counties,” said Mr Kamanda.

One of the conditions for the internal polls was that those seeking electoral positions in the 2017 general elections were not to run for any party position.
