Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo has accused the electoral body IEBC and the ruling Jubilee administration of scheming to rig the next general elections.
Speaking on Wednesday in Rarieda, the legislator said that it was clear the two parties were plotting to manipulate the polls by insisting on a manual voter system.
“The jubilee government should stop misleading Kenyans by saying that the electronic system cannot work sufficiently, the electronic system is the only way where dead voters would be blocked from participating in the elections as was witnessed in other elections,” Gumbo said.
“The government and the IEBC should be in the forefront to advocate for a credible elections and not the other way round. We need to seal all the loopholes for a bungled elections and the electronic system is the remedy,” he added.
On his part, Gumbo, who is also a telecommunications expert challenged IEBC to pursue alternative electronic voting systems which shall act as back up systems in place of a manual back up system as suggested by the electoral body.
