ODM rebel MPs at the Coast have rubbished claims that they have been paid by the Jubilee administration to cause chaos in ODM ahead of the 2017 general elections.

The legislatures, led by Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung'aro said they decided to quit the orange movement due to internal dictatorship by party officials.

The MPs further said they had realised that Cord was headed to a major defeat come next year.

“Why would we wait to be defeated and resume to the usual complaining antics for the next five years? We better join the winning side and ensure that development comes to our people,” said Mung'aro.

On his part, Likoni MP Masoud Mwahima praised President Uhuru Kenyatta for the manner in which he was handling issues.

The MP said he had personally met the president over the Waitiki land saga, which was put to rest after the president's intervention.

“Waitiki had been a thorn in the flesh for many years but it only took the president hours to intervene and find a solution,” said Mwahima.

The MPs met at a Mombasa hotel on Wednesday to chart a way forward regarding their position in the newly formed Jubilee Party.

The meeting was attended by Lunga Lunga MP Hatib Mwashetani, Likoni MP Masoud Mwahima, Kilifi North's Gideon Mungaro among others.
