Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has accused the Uhuru Kenyatta-led Jubilee administration of aiming to control and intimidate the media.
The Wiper party leader said the government is using its machinery to frustrate the work of the fourth estate.
Musyoka, who spoke at Yatta trading centre, said the freedom of the press must be protected.
“The Jubilee government has shown its determination to frustrate, intimidate and control the media,” the Cord principal said.
Musyoka said that time when the government use to control the media is over and that the freedom of the press must be upheld.
The former VP also accused the Jubilee government of failing to crack the whip on corruption.
He observed that corruption is rampant in the government, saying that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto, are not willing to end corruption.
“It is unfortunate that the same government that vowed to deal with corruption is doing nothing to deal with culprits,” he said.
The Wiper party leader vowed that Cord will remain intact, saying that they are keen to form the next government come 2017.
