In an article that appeared in one of the local dailies on Sunday authored by Duale, the lawmaker said that the government is using funds in the region for development purposes and not to buy support from the Luhya ahead of the 2017 general elections.

"ODM has accused Jubilee of using public coffers to finance its Western forays. It is no secret that we are using public resources but for development purposes. The government is doing its best to improve agriculture in the region, starting with the sugar sector," the article said in part.

"The government will spend billions of shillings more in Western Kenya for development projects as we seek to live up to our dream of a transformed country," the article continued.
