Meru Senator Mithika Linturi has opposed elections law amendment proposed by the Jubilee Party.

Speaking on NTV Monday, the Jubilee lawmaker faulted the procedure put in place by his party in relation to the charges accusing it of singlehandedly working on the rather national issue.

He further faulted the party's tendency to use its muscles in both the national assembly and senate to bully the minority by going ahead to put in place a joint select committee to work on the issue.

''Jubilee may have meant well for the nation by proposing these laws but it will be meaningless as the other side of the political divide has been left out.We can pass any law because we have all we need to do so but this only raises suspicion as the minority alliance has not been involved in the entire procedure,'' he said.

According to Linturi, it is not the right time for the changes saying that both sides of the divide should instead be investing time towards solving the ongoing stalemate with regards to the polls.

''Best laws are not made in times of crisis. It would be better if we used the little time we have to prepare for the coming elections,''  said the Senator.
