A Jubilee party leader in Kisumu has told the party to trade carefully with ODM as the country sprints yet to another election in 2022.
Jubilee Kisumu County head Odhiambo Lieche said on Tuesday that Jubilee party should not wholly rely on ODM's support bearing in mind the opposition party has in two occasions, 2013 and 2017, accused the ruling coalition of stealing its victory.
He said ODM's support for Deputy President William Ruto in 2022 is not guaranteed.
"It really leaves a lot of questions. Raila Odinga who leads the opposition and who intends to vie for the presidency in 2022 met President Uhuru Kenyatta just the other day and within hours ODM MPs were singing Ruto's name for 2022. Is this really genuine?" Odhiambo posed while being interviewed by journalists.
"We will take the message but trade carefully. It could be a trap," he added.
Opposition MPs from Coast region on Saturday led by Malindi legislator Aisha Jumwa stamped their authority during Ruto's tour of the region where they stated the five counties in Coast will support the former Eldoret North MPs bid to ascend to State House in 2022.
NASA-allied leaders from Nairobi also said they would support the bid now that ODM has agreed to work with the Jubilee administration.
Ruto is among leaders expected to clinch the presidency in 2022.
