Speaking during a meeting at the Jubilee Party office in Nakuru, Manyara claimed the MCAs were so much focused on money and that they were planning to elect a county Assembly speaker from Nasa’s front.

The Nakuru county Jubilee chair called on all MCAs elected on a Jubilee ticket not to play around with party matters but rather ensure they vote in a Jubilee County assembly speaker since it is the same party that sponsored them.

“We have information that MCAs who were elected on Jubilee ticket are now planning to elect a speaker who is affiliated to Nasa. Let them be warned of such a move. They were elected on Jubilee and should make sure we have a Jubilee speaker,” said Manyara.

However the words seemed to land on the wrong side after a section of the MCAs present started shouting demanding the Jubilee chair to clarify his sentiments.

This even led to the exchange of bitter words until Bahati MP Onesmus Kimani Ngunjiri stepped in to cool down the matter before the meeting proceeded.

A matter that Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui in his address also called on Jubilee MCAs who are majority to consider electing a speaker affiliated to the party.

“Jubilee as a party has the right to ensure that the the Speaker is from the same since majority of MCAs are from Jubilee. We don’t want fights here and there in Nakuru county,” the Governor said.

This comes bare two days before Nakuru county MCAs are sworn into office as scheduled for Wednesday.

Once sworn into office, the MCAs’ first role will be electing county Assembly speaker a seat that is being eyed by a number among them the current clerk Joseph Malinda, former  Subukia MP Nelson Gachuie, Joel Maina Kairu who served as CEC Roads under Kinuthia Mbugua regime among others.
