Kitutu Chache South parliamentary hopeful Anthony Kibagendi has now accused his party's top leadership of abandoning him during the Tuesday polls.
In a lengthy Facebook post published on his page, Kibagendi claimed that a section of Jubilee Party leaders drawn from Kisii region feel threatened of his rising political star.
"Remember the entire the entire Kisii County government, all elected leaders in the region (both in jubilee and NASA) other than Richard N. Tongi were against me, Jubilee Leaders from the region who are uncomfortable with my growth other than Hon. Albert Nyaundi ,supported my opponent," he remarked.
Kibagendi, however, thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto for standing by him.
"I say a big thank you to the people of Kitutu Chache South who turned up to vote for me, thank you to my supporters across the country, thank you to The President and The Deputy President for believing in me, I give special thanks to my team, my family and my true friends. Hon. Japheth Nyakundi, Senator Milly Omanga,Donya Toto and Richard Tongi, The Jubilee youth league, thank you. God Bless you all," he said.
He emerged second, losing to the incumbent MP Richard Onyonka who garnered 10,122 votes.
Onyonka sought reelection on a Ford Kenya party ticket and received backing from NASA leader Raila Odinga.
