Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has accused a section of Jubilee leaders of destroying posters belonging to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) aspirants before President Uhuru Kenyatta’s visit in the county on Sunday. 

Kingi has called upon security agencies and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to take stern action against the responsible parties.The Governor, who spoke during a meeting with Muslim leaders at Karima in Shella ward, alleged that Jubilee leaders brought down posters of opposition candidates and covered some with their own following the announcement that the President would tour the county. “It is wrong for anyone to use hired goons to deface campaign posters. My opponents have resorted to this because they have sensed defeat,” said Kingi, as quoted by The Star.Kilifi Women Rep Aisha Jumwa reiterated Kingi’s remarks, adding that they will report the matter to the relevant authorities.“We shall report the matter to police and the IEBC so action is taken against the culprits,” she said. President Uhuru held rallies in the county on Sunday.He was accompanied by his Deputy William Ruto, Mombasa governor aspirant Suleiman Shahbal and Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro among other Jubilee leaders.
