Justice George Odunga had on Thursday convicted Matiang'i, only to spare him imprisonment.

"The first respondent is now notorious of ignoring court orders.  I hereby find him guilty of contempt of court," said Odunga.

Even after the conviction,  Nyamira leaders say the minister acted within the law in Miguna Miguna's row.

They also urged the embattled lawyer to follow the law in his undertakings.

"The minister did nothing wrong because Miguna had failed to present passport for clearance," said Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose.

Nyamira Women Rep Jerusha Momanyi said: "It is unfair to intimidate someone who is dedicated to make this country safe through the court."

The estranged lawyer is currently languishing in Dubai following the government's decision to deport him.
