Elected Jubilee leaders from Uasin Gishu County have welcomed court decisions to dismiss cases that sought to stop the repeat presidential elections.

Speaking at Cheptiret in Kesses constituency on Wednesday, the leaders said Kenyans will now get a chance to exercise their constitutional right to vote.

Led by Governor Jackson Mandago, the Jubilee allied leaders insisted that they are ready for the repeat poll and asked Kenyans to come out in large numbers and vote.

"We are ready for the elections and we want to assure voters in this county that there is sufficient security. All they need to do is wake up early, go to vote then return home and wait for the results," said governor Mandago.

"We also congratulate the Judiciary for allowing elections to go on as it was in public interest for Kenyans to be given an opportunity to democratically elect their leader," added the Kesses MP, Dr. Swarrup Mishra.

The High Court on Wednesday dismissed former Kilome MP Harun Mwau’s petition seeking to stop repeat presidential poll, ruling that it lacks jurisdiction.

Another case that was filed by three Kenyans seeking to stop the elections failed to kick off at the Supreme Court which was hit by a technical quorum after only two out of the seven charges appeared in court.

In the other case that could have affected Thursday's election, Justice George Odunga ruled that the appointment of the returning officers in all the 291 constituencies, including the diaspora, was outside the law but declined to quash the gazette notice on the appointment of the election managers.
