Vibrant nominated MCA George Mosiori, on Borabu WhatsApp group, dismissed the move as inconsequential adding that the governor cannot change voting dynamics.

"This is not the first time am hearing that he supports Gideon Moi. The support is inconsequential because South Rift has traditionally remained loyal to the DP William Ruto.

"In fact, Moi should now try other tactics. He backed several leaders in South Rift in 2017 but none of them sailed through," he added.

On Sunday, the Baringo senator revealed that he is in talks with several South Rift leaders as part of his wider plans to eliminate Jubilee from the region.

And Rigoma MCA Ben Sironga said however much the governor had rights to declare support for Moi, the move cannot in long-term affect the DP's 2022 chances.

"There is no panic at all and he has a right to support whoever he deems fit. However, the move will not yield much in my opinion," he said in a phone call.

Both Moi and Ruto are battling to take control of the populous Rift Valley region which has backed the latter for over a decade now.
