A host of Jubilee leaders who supported its candidate Maxwell Magoma in Nyacheki ward by-elections from Gusii have reportedly been summoned by State House to explain the loss, an n insider has revealed.
The Jubilee Party through Deputy President William Ruto pitched tent in the ward only to lose with a margin to ODM’s Naphtali Onkoba.
And according to the source who spoke on condition of anonymity, State House has summoned the leaders to do a ‘postmortem’ of the results and perhaps explain the ‘hostility’ they faced during campaigns.
“It’s true the leaders have been summoned to State House because the parity heavily invested in the by elections but didn’t manage to win. The loss was a blow to the president and that is why they were summoned,” he said.
“They are supposed to do a postmortem by the end of this week and also explain to the top leadership on why they were increasingly facing hostility from the ground,” added the source.
Among those summoned according to the source include all nine MPs from Kisii County, Deputy Governor Joash Maangi and Senator Chris Obure.
However, none of the leaders could confirm the latest development since none could respond to neither calls nor text messages until going to press.
